TDK leadership in digital and energy transformation earns recognition as a Clarivate Top 100 Global InnovatorTM 2021

In a record seven years on the prestigious list, TDK continues to push the boundaries of electronics innovation, prioritizing digital transformation and energy transformation as key components of the company’s growth and values. This recognition further solidifies TDK’s position as an industry leading solution provider and ecosystem partner for customers building revolutionary technologies.

Starting with more than 14,000 organizations, Clarivate selects the top innovators based on four primary criteria - including volume of patents received in the last five years and in all time, downstream impact an invention has on patent applications from others, a successful patent-application-to-grant ratio, and globalization of patents. This time, TDK received a high evaluation especially for the "successful patent-application-to-grant ratio".

“Going forward, we will continue to enhance the influence of the intellectual property portfolio created by each TDK Group company to realize technologies and processes that could only have come from TDK,” said Osamu Hikita, Corporate Officer, General Manager of Production Engineering, HQ and General Manager of Intellectual Property Rights Center of Technology and Intellectual Property HQ. “We will advance DX and EX with cutting-edge products produced by unique technologies & processes, and contribute to solving social issues.”

Built on a foundation of material science mastery in 1935, TDK continues to push the boundaries of digital, energy, and societal transformation. In 2020, TDK released a number of industry-leading solutions including the InWheelSense vehicle sensor platform, miniaturized automotive power inductors, aluminum electrolytic capacitors and multilayer ceramic capacitors, noise suppression filters, and a MEMS-based sensor platform, which detects CO2 in home, automotive, IoT, healthcare and other applications. Through its CVC TDK Ventures, TDK invested in a number of material science and technology companies to understand more about new growth markets and technologies, and to ultimately create new solutions for DX and EX.

With a wide range of electronic components and solutions in large scale manufacturing, TDK’s comprehensive product portfolio spans across passive components, as well as customized products including sensors, and energy devices - used in a broad spectrum of applications including automotive and industrial electronics, communications technology, and solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT).
